First off, I'd like to take this moment to agree with Sierra on her blog post from Monday. I love historical novels, but I just really don't feel comfortable with all of the information that goes into them. I admire authors who write those kinds of novels. Contemporary romance and paranormal romance are my fortes.
Anyways! Continuing with our discussion of time periods, I really enjoy Ancient Greece and Rome, though there haven't been too many romances written in that vein, that I know of. I have read a couple of Sherrilyn Kenyon's books that incorporate that time period. I also enjoy European history, including Scottish, Irish, and English settings anywhere from the Dark Ages to Regency. I attempted a double major in English: Creative Writing and History (emphasis on European History), but decided that graduating was more important than being a perpetual college student.
I'm very passionate about history. Though, as long as the novel's plot is intriguing, I'm willing to give it a shot. =) How about you guys? What are your favorite time periods to read about? Also, do you have any favorite time periods in general that you don't feel are focused on enough in fiction? Make sure to leave me a message, so I can hear what you think!

Time After Time
This week we're discussing our favorite time periods. Well, I have to say that when I write, I usually write contemporaries. I enjoy other time periods as well, but I don't feel like they're my strong suit when writing. Now to read about, that's a different story. I love to read other time periods. I like to read historicals, but I honestly don't know the difference between the time periods in the stories. I enjoy reading about them, and learning the different way of life back then.
I read one story where the time period was set during the Salem Witch Trials. It was very interesting and I'd love to read more from that time period. It was a fascinating and tragic time when people were condemned out of ignorance. Thankfully, that time period has passed, but it is still an interesting time to read about.
I also like reading about other worlds. Although, this isn't technically another time period, it's a different perspective than the normal world we live in.
Do you have a favorite time period you like to read or write about? I'd love to hear it. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
