Wow, it seems like just yesterday that we got started on this journey. Isn't it crazy? As of now, I'm at 36,074 words. Time has flown, and I've written quite a bit in that period of time, but in some ways I'd love to be at a higher word count. Although, to be honest, I've written more and had more dedication this year than years in the past. It's nice to know that I'm growing from the experience. I hope to not make the mistake of stopping this experience of dedicated writing after this time has passed. I really stand firm with Sierra on sending off a manuscript to NY early next year.
What have I learned this week? Pretty much that I don't have the turbo battery that the energizer bunny does and that if I don't make time for writing, or if I decide to goof off while I have the time of writing, then nothing gets done and I just beat myself up over the "failure." I have to stay focused on my story and not let myself think of all of the other stories that are beginning to pull on my mind. Also, even though my story is starting to drag and I want to throw things because the proverbial waters of my plot are getting muddied so I can't tell where in the world my story is going, I have to keep pushing forward. I can't just laze around and complain about it. That doesn't get anything done. It keeps me away from the manuscript and probably makes things worse.
So! How are you guys doing with Nano? Have you been going strong or wanting to give up? Has it become hard for you as well? Or are you speeding through it? Let me know. *smiles*

5 deadly screams:
This time last year, going into week #3, I hit a major snag and turned into 'Evil Molly'. But kept slogging away and finally broke through it.
This year, I have barely cracked the 5K mark, but now I know why...I received a conditional contract on another story and am now immersed in revisions! I may be blocked/unmotivated/whatever about my NaNo wip, but I'm cruising along with the rewrites!
You're past the halfway point; keep going girl! You'll get there! And at the end of the month, we'll all get a glass of wine and toast each other.
I'm a little over halfway and I have to admit, I'm surprised! I'm not saying what I've written is a stunner but just the fact that it is written speaks volumes to the fact that I can do this!
Congrats everyone on your word counts! Just remember, it's more than you had Nov 1st. And being over halfway done if fantastic. Just keep plodding along, you'll break through the rough patch. The middle always seems to do that to me, but eventually, I get through it and gain my momentum back. It doesn't look like I'll get to join in at all this year. I've already got my second set of edits back and I'm working on them again. Congrats Molly on the contract! I know what you're going through ;) We're all going have something to celebrate come Dec 1st.
I'm not doing too bad considering all the distractions I've had lately. I've got almost 30,000 words, so I'm excited about that!
AND I found the time to search out some in on NY agents for the NY pact the three of us made.
Keep writing, Sarah! You've got about 14,000 words left to write!!!
Molly, 5K is more words than you had and the rewrites have to come first. Good luck!!!!
Thank you for your comments! They were great. :) I appreciate the support, and I know that y'all can accomplish everything you guys set your minds to!
Congrats on the contract, Molly! We will definitely have to toast at the end of the month.
Karen, that's wonderful! I know you can do it! I'm sure what you're writing is great. I know from experience that we're our own greatest critics.
Sierra, that stinks that you won't be able to join in, but I guess you'll be able to do yours in December. You write fast enough anyways. ;) Those edits though are still great.
Gracen, your word count is amazing! You go girl! I have a list of agents as well, maybe we can sit down and compare notes. We're so going to get NY published. :)
